Research of Existing Products (Kerrang Issue 1294) Contents page

Contents page

Colour Scheme: The contents page is in some what brighter compared to the front cover. The colours used are the same but there this time isn't much black, and white has taken over as the main colour scheme. The basic reason for this being to make the text more readable to the audience. As for the small amount f Black owhich is featured, a yellow font is used over the top to lift the text off the page. The connotations of the colour yellow symbolise and express a warm welcome feeling when the reader is  looking at the contents page, which makes them want to read on and possible buy the magazine.

Photography:  The main picture on the top of the contents page is clearly from a previous gig which is used in reflection to show the audiences preference to seeing live music. This then symbolises the type of audience in which have a high stamina as gigs are energy consuming. The other pictures on the contents are all of a smaller size and advertise the content of the magazine renforcing the audience liking and wanting to see live music. One of the pictures is of the editor which shows her envolvment with the sales side of the magazine showing that she wants to get involved with the fans which tells us that kerrang is a fan based magazine and people orientated.

Writing Style:  The writitng style again as seen on the front cover is fitted to the audience, this is shown through the amount of text which features on the contents page. As we the target audience in which being teenagers are  not fond on exsessive amounts of text. Therefore the text has been limited to just indicateing the more imformative point of what will be within the magazine keeping it 'short and sweet'

Overall Look:   The overall look of the contents show's a atmosphere of a busy content and once again ironically links to the target audience as been a highly energetic and outgoing. Personally i feal the contents lets out alot of excitment and energy through the layout in contrast also with the colour and images used.

Text/picture Ratio:  On the contents page there is a higher ratio of text used in comparisson with the images. This is expected as the editor is indicating and informing the audience of the content to which is to follow over the inside of the magazine.
Fonts: Once again as seen before there is a high useage of  CAPITAL bold lettering which immediately catches the audiences attention really capturing there eye. Also i noticed behind  most of the text is a rough black block which indicates firmness and also maybe a sense of seriousness in which is a really good way to be bold and wanting the audiences attention.
